Meet STRIGA, our little boat with a big heart

Join us for a half-day or full-day boat trip from Piran, Umag or Novigrad. STRIGA is an old sailing boat with a lot of character — not a fast speedboat, not a fancy yacht. Just a slow trip on the sea, a swim in a quiet bay, and some sun. We take small groups only, and your dog or cat is welcome too. We run trips all year round.

Our story

An old boat with a lot of character

We don't offer champagne on a big shiny boat. STRIGA is a real old sailing boat, with ropes, brass details and a cosy wooden cabin. We use her for simple things: a slow trip along the coast, a swim in clear water, and time to relax and do very little.

Honestly

A sailing boat, mostly

STRIGA is not a speedboat and not a racing yacht. We raise the sail when the wind is good, but most of the time we use her simple diesel engine to move gently along the coast.

Built in 1973

She was built in Italy in 1973 and used to sail from Trieste. Today her home port is Piran. "Striga" means "witch" in the local Italian dialect — a friendly one.

Franz, your captain

Franz (short for Francesco) is the owner and captain. He was born in 1972, one year before the boat. He knows the coast well and loves to share stories.

Two ways to spend a day on the water

We keep it small and relaxed — a maximum of 4 guests per trip. Fuel and drinking water are included; bring your own food and drinks and keep them in our small fridge. We run trips all year, whenever the weather is good.

Good to know

The honest little details

We prefer to be honest, not to oversell. Here is exactly what to expect on board.

Small groups only

STRIGA can carry up to 8 people, but we take a maximum of 4 guests. This way, everyone has enough space. Cosy, never crowded.

Dogs and cats welcome

Your pet is welcome aboard. They can't come into the cabin anyway, so they stay outside in the fresh air with everyone else.

A real toilet

There is a toilet in its own small room — a bit of privacy that not every old boat has.

Small fridge on board

We provide fresh drinking water. Bring your own food and drinks, and keep them cool in our small fridge.

Easy to get in the water

A platform with a ladder at the back makes it easy to swim. When we stop near a beach, our small dinghy can take you there.

Plenty of water on board

STRIGA carries a lot of drinking water, so there's enough for a good rinse or shower after your swim.

A life jacket for everyone

We have a well-fitting life jacket for every guest, including smaller sizes for children: 25–40 kg for younger kids and 40–60 kg for older kids. The law says the life jacket must fit the person's size.

Try steering, if you like

Would you like to steer the boat for a while? Guests can take the wheel, always with Franz watching close by.

One honest note

STRIGA does not have a big sunbathing deck — she is an old working sailing boat, not a party boat. What she offers instead is character, shade and calm.

Tip from the skipper: seasickness

If you get seasick easily, take a tablet before we leave. It is often worse when the boat is standing still than when we are moving, so it's best to be prepared.
